"Fish in the city" is a responsive work to coping with mental illness. Through exploring my own relationship to photographic mediums, I found that the medium felt like a reconnection to the environment around me that I often feel disassociated too. It was less about the image and more about the act and process of capturing everything around me, regaining control of my experiences. Fish in the City was a result of taking those experiences- pieces of pictures from recent events- and creating a space where things didn’t belong or felt disconnected in some way, though approaching the subject in a more light and whimsical fashion.
